Starting with the initial assessment, your therapist will gather information about the different areas in your life, your concerns and best hopes/goals for therapy. Follow-up sessions may include a combination of counselling and psychotherapy elements, depending on what is most effective for the client.

Counselling is relatively short term therapy that focuses on current situations or issues. Your therapist will provide support as you unpack this issues, and offer guidance and education to help you identify how to cope with and/or improve the issue.

Psychotherapy is longer term therapy that focuses on recurring, longstanding patterns and difficulties that may have roots in earlier life experiences. It aims to access the internal thoughts and feelings by using psychotherapy modalities including, but not limited to, Attachment Based Therapy, EMDR, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness based therapies.
